MeCAP, as a network, supports all Maine communities
MeCAP serves as the statewide association for Maine’s nine Community Action Agencies. Together, these agencies cover all sixteen counties, delivering essential services directly to individuals and families. MeCAP does not provide services itself—instead, we strengthen the network by offering advocacy, training, and coordination at the state level. This partnership ensures that local agencies can focus on meeting community needs while MeCAP works to secure resources, influence policy, and amplify their impact.
Maine Community Action Partnership, or MeCAP, is a mission-driven network of independent Community Action agencies. Together, we seek to build a Maine where all people, regardless of income, have the opportunity to thrive. As a network, our collective strengths include trust-based relationships with communities, key partners, and stakeholders; a shared history of advocacy and impact; and a commitment to eliminating poverty.
In Maine and across the nation, communities are navigating a complex and evolving landscape that includes increased economic uncertainty, housing instability, food insecurity, and reduced access to essential services and resources such as child care, home energy assistance, employment, and supports for older adults. Opportunities exist to leverage new and diverse funding sources, develop partnerships with aligned organizations to maximize efficiencies and impact, and increase awareness about the root causes of poverty. MeCAP and its network agencies are committed to this work.
