Limited transportation—especially in rural areas—affects access to health care, food, and social connections. The cost of owning a personal vehicle is another barrier:

48.9% of Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment survey respondents reported being negatively impacted by expenses such as gas, repairs, registration, insurance, and

driver education. Our Community Action agencies help fill this gap by providing reliable transportation services to meet needs across our rural state.
